Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy visited the National Youth Educational Forum "Seliger-2014"

Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy was a guest at the anniversary National Youth Educational Forum "Seliger-2014", which is taking place from June, 13 to August, 10 in the Tver region. Within the Forum Platform "Young Lawyers of Russia" Alexey Ostrovskiy, accompanied by the Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, Forum Content-Director Sergei Chuev, first of all spoke with the delegation of Smolensk.

The tenth All-Russian Youth Forum "Seliger 2014" comprises 25 thematic platforms, those which have become traditional, and those which are new to the Forum. There are such platforms as "Youth Self-Government", "Regions of Russia", "Economy of the Future", "Young Lawyers", "Young Designers and Architects", "Spiritual Foundations of Russia", "Russian Truth" and "Librarian of the Future" among them. The participants of the "Seliger-2014" are about 20 thousand young people from all regions of Russia, as well as from more than 140 countries. The "Seliger" has become the first of the Russian Youth Forum, which entered the top ten of the best youth conferences around the world.

Answering the questions of the young people from all the regions of Russia, Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy spoke about the political life of Smolensk region, about the activities of the Administration and the latest achievements of the authorities of Smolensk region. In particular, he spoke about the new social benefits introduced in the region, investments and gasification.

During the talk, Alexey Ostrovskiy told the young people about the region's economy, as well as the activities of the regional administration in order to attract investment. The construction of the second stage of the Smolensk NPP takes a special place among the investment projects. This project is a qualitative breakthrough to the rise of the regional economy. The fact that the total investment in the construction of the nuclear power plant, according to experts, will be about 285 billion rubles proves its immensity.

Moreover, 17 large investment projects are being currently implemented in the region. It is planned that the new enterprises will create more than 13.5 thousand new jobs in the region. Significant economic benefit is expected from investing in the project of CJSC "VORGA Glass Factory" “Industry and Technology Park VORGA" (the Ershichi district) with a total investment of 12.7 billion rubles. This factory produces glass fittings and new generation glass.

During the meeting the young people asked questions about providing help to the Crimea and cooperation of Smolensk region with the Republic of Belarus, about Alexey Ostrovskiy’s attitude to import substitution, the degree of freedom of the municipal government. They also spoke about the education system, the program of providing housing to young families and the demographic problem.

After the meeting with the participants of the "Seliger" Alexey Ostrovski visited one of the platforms of the Forum - "Innovation", within which the young people present their innovations. There were ideas on practical implementation of some projects which Alexey Ostrovskiy discussed with representatives of the companies represented at the platform.
