Alexey Ostrovskiy opened the exhibition of farm animals

For two days Smolensk region will host the international exhibition of farm animals aimed at introducing the best practices and achievements of the best animal farms specializing in cattle care and breeding into the industry. Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy participated in the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

The tradition of holding such events was renewed only last year. Before that the exhibition of farm animals was not held in Smolensk region for over 30 years. According to the organizers, the exhibition is held to promote and introduce the best practices of organizing breeding and reproduction of the herd, to identify outstanding pedigree farm animals raised on the breeding farms in the region, to sign contracts for the supply of breeding products (material).

The breeding farms and applicants to become a breeding farm from the region (30 agricultural producers) and more than 300 managers and specialists from the farms of Smolensk region and neighboring regions are participating in the exhibition, which is taking place on the basis of OJSC "Smolenskoe". On the first day of the exhibition it was visited by the veterans of agricultural industry, the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, researchers and teachers of educational and scientific institutions, managers and specialists of agricultural enterprises, farmers, managers and specialists of banking and insurance organizations working in the agricultural credit and insurance sphere. On Saturday, the second of August, the exhibition will be open for the residents and visitors of Smolensk.

At the opening ceremony addressing the visitors and participants of the agricultural festival, the Governor stressed that this form of work is necessary to understand the future directions of cooperation in the field of agriculture.

Speaking about the development of agriculture, Aleksey Ostrovskiy said that in this sphere the hopes of the regional administration are connected with the cattle production. Significant role in the development of the industry is given to the investment activities in the region.

At the opening ceremony Alexey Ostrovskiy presented the best agribusiness specialists with the Letters of Appreciation from the Governor of Smolensk region, and then together with the other visitors examined the animals of meat and dairy breeds, bred in the region. They were presented by the 16 companies. At the exhibition you could see dairy, meat and dairy-meat breeds of cattle, sheep, various breeds of chickens, geese, ducks, quail, rabbits, bees and fish.

The visitors of the exhibition could get acquainted with the stands and exhibits, presenting samples of dairy equipment, feed additives, veterinary drugs, and take part in various workshops. One of the most important for the agricultural industry events at the exhibition was walking the graded breeding animals round the demonstration ground.

For two days there will be tasting samples of dairy and meat products, as well as the award ceremony for the winners of the industry competition within the exhibition program. The guests will visit the presentations of the scientific institutions: State Scientific Institution Smolensk Agricultural Research Institute, the educational institution Federal State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Smolensk State Agricultural Academy", the Regional Information and Breeding Center of OJSC "Smolenskoe" for breeding. In addition, there is the auction for the sale of pedigree cattle in the program of the exhibition.
