The bicycle ride of the Union State "Youth of Russia and Belarus is the road to the future of the Union State"

In Smolensk, in the Memorial Park of Heroes there was a start of the already traditional VIII International bicycle ride "Youth of Russia and Belarus is the road to the future of the Union State", which is supported by the Administration of the Smolensk region, the Permanent Committee of the Union State and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia.

The event, held since 2006, is aimed at strengthening the friendly relations between the youth of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation and the partnership of the public youth organizations of the two countries.

The route of the bicycle ride, in which the Russian and Belarusian young parliamentarians, teachers and scientists, leaders of youth organizations, students are taking part, will go through the territory of the Smolensk, Pskov, Vitebsk, Mogilev and Minsk regions. The total number of cyclists is 60 people. There are 800 kilometers and seven days on the road ahead.

Together with the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the participants of the bicycle ride laid wreaths and flowers to the Eternal Flame.

Along the route the bicycle ride the participants will visit memorials, lay wreaths and flowers to the obelisks and monuments to the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War, take part in the meetings, sport events, concerts, meet with youth activists, school students and veterans.

In addition, in the course of the bicycle ride, the youth leaders of the two brotherly countries are going to share experience of patriotic education and promotion of the healthy lifestyle, conclude agreements on the international cooperation in the field of youth policy.

The program of the event includes founding the "Alley of Friendship" in Demidov and holding a roundtable discussion on the prospects of the cooperation between the youth of Belarus and the Russian Federation in the framework of the Union State.
