Honoring the senior citizens of Smolensk

The City Hall of Culture "Sharm" hosted a ceremony dedicated to the International Day of Older Persons. This holiday is a token of special respect and attention to the older people who have lived hard, but glorious life, who have managed to keep the youth of the soul.

Our older generation has kept through all the difficulties of life something that their children and grandchildren often lack; it is the hope for the best. They have done a lot of great things – the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 70th anniversary of which we are going to celebrate next year, selfless work for the good of the children and grandchildren. The older generation has always and at all times helped us to live and enjoy life, in spite of all its hardships, taught us patience and determination.

The soloist of Smolensk regional Philharmonic Honored Artist of Russia Yuri Afonov greeted the audience with his soul-touching songs. The concert featuring the performances of the talented art groups and Smolensk artists made the residents of Smolensk smile and evoked good memories.
