Alexey Ostrovskiy met with the professionals of the future

The Tenishevs Culture & Exhibition Center hosted the meeting of Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy with the finalists of the All-Russian competition of the achievements of students of the secondary vocational educational institutions "The Professional Future". Fast enough the official part of the meeting of the Head of the region with the young people transformed into a lively talk.

This year the competition, aimed at increasing the prestige and competitiveness of the graduates of secondary vocational educational institutions, has been held for the second time. The participants are junior and senior students of the vocational institutions from the 20 regions of Russia.

More than 1,000 people who sent their resumes and portfolios to the expert commission participated in the first qualifying round of the competition, which lasted from September, 15 to October, 6. Only 25 authors of the best works were shortlisted by the jury for the final round of the competition, which was held at the Smolensk Academy of Professional Education on October, 22-23.

"I believe that the competition, which you are participating in, is extremely important for you and for the whole country, - said Alexey Ostrovskiy in his welcoming speech. – The opportunities for the dialogue and communication are very important in today's world. So you are lucky that unlike other young people you are participating in this program. You are the most prepared ones of your peers and are already doing the first serious steps despite the quite young age. The way you will enter the modern world, the adult life, your knowledge, your training will determine your life in the future".

During the friendly talk of the Head of the region with "about-to-be" professionals some important issues that concern young people were brought up. They spoke about improving the quality of vocational education and youth policy, providing scholarship to the students and employment opportunities for the graduates. When discussing one of the most vital for the students questions about the sums of scholarships and the need to rise them Alexey Ostrovskiy drew the young people’s attention to the fact that even in the apparently improved situation, people are fairly and reasonably expect more.

Concluding the meeting, the Governor addressed the audience with the words: "I wish you the best luck, happiness, to find yourselves in the profession, to develop in this profession, to realize that you have made the right choice", - said Alexey Ostrovskiy.

Right after the meeting with the Head of the region the young people went on to compete for the title of best "professionals of the future". They had to publicly defend their project in the format of a pitch session before the members of the Central Expert Commission.
