Smolensk region joined the program of Rostourism "Travel around Russia"

The following year, the Federal Agency for Tourism together with the Russian military-historical society will launch a federal tourism program "Travel around Russia". It will comprise 105 tourist routes, representing all the regions of the country, including Smolensk region.

As Deputy Head of the Federal Tourism Agency Nikolay Korolev noted, 2014 has become a turning point for the tourism industry in Russia. The general geopolitical and economic situation, several major players leaving the market have led to a change in the very structure of the Russian tourism industry. According to Nikolay Korolev, there has been a gradual reorientation of the preferences of both companies and tourists in the direction of the domestic tourism.

The routes of the project will be linked to the historical anniversaries and go through the places of military glory of Russia. Tourists will be able to visit museums, interactive sites, exhibitions, memorials, sites of military-historical reconstructions, fields of military glory. For an extensive advertising campaign of the project videos and banners showing the benefits of domestic tourism will be demonstrated at the airports and railway stations.

In Smolensk region, such routes as "Smolensk in the Time of Troubles", "Grateful Smolensk to the Heroes of 1812", "Vyazma - Town of Military Glory" (combined routes of the year of 1812 and the Great Patriotic War war), Solovyova Crossing are among the priorities of military and historical routes proposed by the Russian military-historical society.
