Alexey Ostrovskiy’s working visit to the Pochinok district

Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy paid a working visit to the Pochinok district, where in the Center of Culture of the Stodolische settlement he awarded 33 veterans and home front workers with the jubilee medals "70 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945". Also, during his visit the Head of the region visited a wastewater treatment plant to be launched and a school in the district center.

Alexey Ostrovskiy reminded those present at the meeting of the preparations for the 70th anniversary of Victory Day, which are being made in the region, including the social support of veterans. In particular, he spoke about their full medical examination and repairing their homes.

Presenting the jubilee medals to the veterans, the Governor pointed out the special contribution of the people of Smolensk region to gaining the long-awaited victory and restoration of the national economy.

After the meeting with the veterans, the Head of the region went to the Budyanka village of the Stodolische rural settlement to examine personally the readiness of the wastewater treatment plant with the sewage networks to be launched.

The construction of the facility and the repair of the existing sewage pumping station began in 2013 as part of the long-term regional program "Modernization of the housing and utility facilities of Smolensk region" for 2012-2016. For now, all the work, the total cost of which amounted to 55.6 million Rubles, has been completed.

After visiting the facility, the Governor highly praised the use modern technology in the work of the wastewater treatment plants, which allows the work of the two independent sewage treatment lines.

After the launch of the wastewater treatment plant, scheduled for May, more than a thousand residents of the apartment blocks and neighboring private houses will be able to use the centralized sewerage system, which will significantly improve their living conditions. This network will also be used by the outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital buildings. In addition, the launch of the facility will improve the general ecological situation in the settlement, as it will stop dumping sewage wastewater to the open land and nearby streams.

Visiting School No 2 of the district center was the last point on the agenda of the Governor’s working visit to the Pochinok district.

The school building was put into operation 57 years ago. The planned capacity of the educational institution is 340 students. Currently, the school has 468 students, 51 of them are first-graders.

In 2013, the funds amounting to more than 13 million Rubles were allocated from the reserve fund of Smolensk region Administration for the construction of a two-storey extension to the school canteen. Following the auction, the contract with LLC "Zhilstroy-1" was signed. However, after the construction of the basement and exterior sewerage and ventilation, the contract was terminated by mutual agreement as the company had run out of the working capital. The construction works and connection of the facility to the utility networks were carried out by LLC "Desstroy-1".

A little more than 9 million Rubles in total was spent on the construction of a two-storey extension to the school canteen. As the school principal Nina Klimkova told the Governor, the remaining funds were to go to acquisition and installation of equipment for the dining room and medical office. However, because of the improper execution of works by the contractor, due to lack of the working capital in the organization, the deadlines were not met and the necessary documents were not prepared in time. All this was the reason for the delay of the facility launch.
