Today we are going through a difficult time – there is an ideological fight for the hearts and minds of our youth. Your task is to make young people feel as heirs of the great country. In his opening speech the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation to the Central Federal District Alexander Beglov said: "The 70th anniversary of the Great Victory is another opportunity to remind of the values of peace, of the need to protect these values. Today we are going through a difficult time – there is an ideological fight for the hearts and minds of our youth. Your task is to make young people feel as heirs of the great country. After all, patriotism is not only about being proud of your grandfathers and great-grandfathers, it is also about what you do for your country and what you feel".

During the press conference, Alexander Beglov thanked the members of the search and volunteer groups, which are formed in all the regions of the District, for their work as their enthusiasm, dedication and professionalism allowed to find the remains of more than 700 thousand soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War. The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President also highly praised the preparations for the celebration of the anniversary of the Great Victory, pointing out that different patriotic projects are now being implemented in all the regions of the District. Alexander Beglov emphasized the importance and significance of the work carried out by the Administration of Smolensk region to commemorate the fallen defenders of the Homeland: "I can highly praise all the projects implemented in Smolensk region on the eve of the anniversary of the Victory. But the main thing that attracts attention is a very thoughtful attitude and caring maintenance of monuments, obelisks and military burial places. It deserves a lot of respect".

The issues of patriotic education were the key topic of the presentations of the best regional TV projects and media support projects dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory - "I am writing to you, my dear" (quotations from the soldiers’ letters, voiced by university and school students), "70 poems about the war and Victory" (poetic mini-plays), "History of a thing" (a series of short stories on individual museum exhibits), and others.

After that, there was a ceremony of awarding commemorative medals "70 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945". The Heads of the Public Chamber of the Central Federal District - Chairman of the Public Chamber Board of the Central Federal District Nikita Chaplin and Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Russia cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev - awarded the medal to the Smolensk Regional Center of patriotic education and pre-conscription training of the youth "Dolg".

The medal was also awarded to the director of the film "The Dawns Are Quiet Here ..." Renat Davletyarov. The “round table” participants were the first audience at the pre-show and had the opportunity to ask the director and leading actors Darya Moroz, Evgenya Malakhova (Zhenya Komelkova) and Christina Asmus (Galya Chetvertak) questions. The members of the film crew said that the film was made in a very short time – the greater part of filming took place in Karelia in the summer and autumn of 2014. The most difficult task, according to Renat Davletyarov, was today, 43 years after the first film adaptation, to show and explain to young people why the heroines of the film did all that - loved their homeland, wanted to live, but deliberately went to death, and eventually committed a feat, having paid for it with their lives.
