Smolensk took part in the “Eternal Flame Relay"

In Moscow, in the Alexander Garden, there was a ceremony of handing over the Eternal Flame from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to the Hero-Cities, Cities of Military Glory and administrative centers of the regions of Russia to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. The Smolensk delegation, accompanying the Eternal Flame for Vyazma, was headed by Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy.

The ceremony of handing over the commemorative symbol was held in the framework of the All-Russia patriotic action "Eternal Flame Relay", in which 26 regions and 40 cities awarded the honor title of the Russian Federation "City of Military Glory" took part. Besides Smolensk region, the commemorative symbol will be taken to the Moscow, Orel, Belgorod, Voronezh, Tula, Tver, Bryansk regions, St. Petersburg, as well as other subjects of the Federation, in the cities of which the Eternal Flame memorials will be opened for the first time or after reconstruction.

From Moscow, the commemorative symbol was seen off by the war veterans, leaders of the veterans' and youth organizations. In Vyazma, the Eternal flame will be lit today at the memorial in Efremov square, in front of the monument to the legendary commander.
