The results of the "Union" Bike Ride

60 young people, 30 Russians and 30 Belarusians, took part in the Bike Ride of the Union State "Youth of Russia and Belarus - the road to the future of the Union State", held from 2 to 8 May. This year, the route of the Bike Ride, the total length of which exceeded 900 kilometers, passed through the Smolensk and Pskov regions of Russia, as well as the Vitebsk, Minsk and Mogilev regions of Belarus.

During the week of the Bike Ride, which has become one of the most popular sports and patriotic events of 2015, the participants held five ceremonies to commemorate the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War killed in the battles for the Homeland, laid wreaths at the memorial complex "Katyn" in Smolensk region and "Khatyn" in the Minsk region. A new tradition of planting trees in memory of those who remained on the battlefield during the war was started.

The participants of the Bike Ride also held three “roundtable” discussions dedicated to the current youth issues, during which they shared experience of implementing youth policy in the regions and countries. There were also friendly matches in volleyball and mini-football, cycling quest and quizzes.

In addition, the most active participants of the Bike Ride visited with excursions the cities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, the local history museum in Demidov and the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Velikie Luki.

On the eve of Victory Day, on May, 8, at the Mound of Glory near Minsk there was the closing ceremony of the Bike Ride of the Union State, which has become the biggest ceremony in all its long history - it was attended by more than three thousand people.
