The Cossack Forum in Vyazma
On May 15, the City of Military Glory Vyazma hasted the Cossack forum "Russian Cossack community for their faith, family and Homeland" and IV International Festival of Cossack song "Village, let’s sing!", both dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. They were organized by the regional Administration and the Administration of the Vyazma district, the Smolensk Bishop's office, the Regional Public Chamber, the Smolensk branch of the Cossack society VKO "CKV”, as well as the Vyazma and Smolensk branches of the Moscow State University of Technology and Management named after Razumovsky (First Cossack University).
The purpose of the forum was to revive traditions and preserve the Cossack culture, to develop spiritual and moral foundations of the society, to promote civil and military-patriotic education of youth, to develop the Cossack movement in the region.
The Deputy Governor Olga Okuneva greeted the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the participants of the Forum: "Today, on the International Family Day, we are holding our Forum "Russian Cossacks for faith, family and Homeland!". And it is not surprising at all, as the Cossacks cannot exist without faith, the Cossacks faithfully keep family traditions, are proud of fatherhood, teach their children to work and to love their Homeland. On behalf of the Governor of Smolensk region Alexey Vladimirovich Ostrovskiy, I would like to greet all the participants of the Forum and residents of the city of military glory Vyazma and the Vyazma district".
Then, the Forum participants were actively involved in the work of the “round table” discussion "The Cossacks are a significant resource for the development of patriotism in the Russian Federation" and of the discussion platform "The role of the Russian society and scientific communities in the fight against the falsification of history and the outcome of the Great Patriotic War".
At the end of the Forum program, there was a festival Cossack song "Village, let’s sing!" : vocal groups from different regions of Russia and CIS countries performed on the stage of the city Culture Palace.
