Alexey Ostrovskiy at the youth forum "Smola-2015"

Acting Governor of Smolensk region Alexey Ostrovskiy visited the educational forum "Smola-2015", which began its work on June 3 on the basis of the youth center "STARTup" in Krasny Bor. The Head of the region visited the main infrastructure facilities of the camp, and then, for a half hour he was answering questions from the participants.

This year, the camp is held in two sessions: June 3-8 and June 9-14. For this period of time more than 600 young people, aged from 18 to 35, representing the municipalities of the region, as well as educational and youth organizations, will take part in the Forum supervised by the regional Education, Science and Youth Department. The first session, "Professionals of the new Smolensk region" is aimed at students of educational institutions, young entrepreneurs and innovators. The second "wave" is dedicated to the youth policy.

Such educational and discussion project provides a unique opportunity to solve the problems of identifying and training managers for the staff reserve of Smolensk region, allows to design new youth programs, to create a data bank of the intellectual, creative and leadership potential of young people in our region, builds up effective youth teams in the municipalities to participate in the implementation of the key points of the state youth policy.

At the end of the Forum an open audit of youth social and business projects, and new ideas will be conducted, which will serve as the pragmatic indicator of the maturity level of the Smolensk youth. In the end all the participants will be rated depending on the level of their participation in the Forum. On the basis of this rating, the organizers may recommend some participants to apply for the vacancies in the Youth Administration of Smolensk region.

During the informal talk with the Head of the region the young people actively discussed the most urgent problems and their vision of the processes occurring in the region. The problems of separate waste collection, organizing the action to clean the territory of the Eagle Tower of the Smolensk fortress wall, repairing roads and career prospects, construction of sports facilities in the regions, development of healthcare and agriculture - this is an incomplete list of questions, comments and suggestions, which were addressed to Alexey Ostrovskiy during the discussion.
