The contest for the cleanest municipality has been launched in Smolensk region

The contest is aimed not only to encourage municipalities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their work in the field of waste management, but also to prevent the harmful effects of waste on the environment.

The positive experience of the "cleanest" settlements is sure to be adopted by other municipalities, which have to catch up.

According to the approved Regulations on the contest, it is organized and conducted by the Natural Resources and Environment Department of Smolensk region.

To participate in the contest, the local authorities of the municipalities are to submit the applications to relevant Department by September 1, 2015. The application shall be accompanied by the necessary documents to be considered by the professional contest commission by September 15, 2015.

The prize winners of the contest will be the first three participants with the highest number of points. They will receive the first, second and the third prizes respectfully.

The prize winners of the contest will receive target subsidies from the regional budget to purchase utility machinery and equipment (garbage containers, etc.).
