The Head of the region Alexey Ostrovskiy checked on the progress of the works on the Dnieper embankment.

This year the Administration of Smolensk region has allocated 2.9 million Rubles to repair the storm sewer networks of the Dnieper embankment. The customer is MKU "Stroitel". The developer is OOO “SP Stodolische" (limited liability company). The deadline of the contract is August 3, 2015. The Head of the region inspected the progress and quality of the works.

The Deputy Governor - Head of the Construction, Housing and Utilities Department of Smolensk region Yuri Puchkov and the Head of the City Administration of Smolensk Nikolai Alasheev gave Alexey Ostrovskiy necessary clarification.

"In accordance with the request of the Head of the City Administration, I ordered to allocate funds to repair the storm sewer. I've come to inspect the progress and quality of the works, and to what extent my comments and suggestions of the Smolensk residents have been taken into account and what has been done on the embankment so far",- said Alexey Ostrovskiy.

As Yuri Puchkov explained, so far adoptive wells and the pipe sections of the storm sewer networks have been replaced, the covering and lawns of the embankment have been restored.

Alexey Ostrovskiy wondered what the construction workers are doing to minimize the damage from the poor performance of the previous contractor. Yuri Puchkov said that now JSC "RZDstroy" is doing some warranty works – the walls parapets and railings are being renovated.

As for the bed of the Dnieper, now its level is half a meter lower than normal because of the weather conditions, but when it returns to the nominal elevation, the technical flats will not be visible. As part of the project design and contract for cleaning the Dnieper, cleaning of the bank opposite the embankment is to be done and a neat slope is to be made. These works are expected to be completed within two weeks.

Alexey Ostrovskiy expressed his satisfaction with the progress of works: "I really see that my orders are being fulfilled. There are few things left to be done, and the look of the embankment will change completely. When will the work be completely done?". According to Yuri Puchkov, the central part of the promenade will be completed by August 20, then the construction workers will take care of the embankment fragment behind the playground.
