The results of the contest for the cleanest municipality

The results of the regional contest for the best municipality of Smolensk region to exercise the powers in the field of industrial and consumption waste management have been announced.

The initiative of holding the contest belongs to the Head of the region Alexey Ostrovskiy, who signed the corresponding decree of the regional Administration.

The main goal of the contest is to eliminate illegal dumps and littered areas within the boundaries of the municipalities. Thus, the contest is aimed not only to encourage municipalities to increase the efficiency of their work in the field of waste management, but also to prevent the harmful effects of waste pollution on the environment.

According to the rules of the contest, the prize winners of the contest will be the first three participants with the highest number of points. They will receive target subsidies from the regional budget to purchase utility machinery and equipment (garbage containers, etc.).

It should be noted that the positive experience of the "cleanest" settlements will be adopted by other municipalities. The contest will become annual, as the subsidies allocated to the winners.

The winner of the regional contest of 2015 is the "Yartsevo district" municipality, which receives a subsidy of three million rubles for the co-financing of the costs associated with the execution of powers in the field of industrial and consumption waste management.

The second and the third prizes of the regional contest went to:

- the "Rudnya district" municipality, receiving the second prize and the target subsidy of two million rubles;

- the "Vyazma district" municipality, receiving the third prize and the target subsidy of one and a half million rubles.
