Take care of the road!

In Russia a large-scale campaign "On the road - without overweight" starts. It is aimed at preserving the existing network of public roads and control of the movement of heavy vehicles. It will be held from September, 28 to October, 4 on the territory of the regions of the Russian Federation.

Today, nearly 40% of trucks move along the highways violating the set limits, which results in excess of the calculated parameters of traffic intensity and weight limits. This inevitably leads to destruction of roads, and, as a result, to additional costs for repair and maintenance of traffic arteries.

Most roads are designed for the calculated axial load of 6-10 tons but modern vehicles can carry much heavier loads than permitted by the rules.

During the campaign there will be day and night fixed and mobile points of weight control of vehicles on public roads of both federal and regional significance. Field actions with participation of the representatives from the traffic police of Smolensk region, and the regional Directorate of the state road supervision, territorial bodies of road management, public organizations and mass media will be held.

The results of the campaign "On the road - without overweight!" will be announced at the round table meeting "Improvement of weight control of vehicles" in the framework of the VI International specialized exhibition-forum "Road Expo-2015" to be held October, 13-15 in Moscow.
