LEGAL INFORMATION SCIENCE CONTEST GAVE THE NAMES OF THE WINNERS
The final stage of the tenth anniversary regional competition in legal information science took place in Smolensk Industrial and Economic College. Pupils from the 9th – 11th grades of institutions of general education participated there.
The pupils had to pass computer-aided testing, solve a legal situation, and demonstrate their ability to work at the legal information system.
The aim of the contest is to raise the legal culture of schoolchildren, to acquaint them with Russian history and law, to create conditions for finding gifted and talented young people, to extend their interest in scientific effort, further mentality and career-guidance, mastering modern computer technologies.
This year the procedure of the contest was different. At first there was an elimination correspondence stage with the use of distance educational technologies, after which 30 participants who had got the most reached the final.
S. Antufiev: ‘They say knowledge is power. Those who have a good knowledge of legal information also have the whole world at their disposal and feel more comfortable in modern society’.
At the official opening of the contest Governor of the Smolensk region Sergey Antufiev addressed himself to the finalists: ‘Today ‘advanced’ children have gathered in this hall. That is the exact word for those who are experts in computers, who feel at their ease on the Internet, and who are ready to accept challenges of the present. They say knowledge is power. Those who have a good knowledge of legal information feel more comfortable in modern society’, emphasized the Head of the region.
At the final stage the participants were to pass a computer test, solve a legal problem, and demonstrate their skills at using the legal information systems ‘ConsultantPlus’, ‘Garant’ and ‘Codex’. Gregory Nyoma, a student of Verkhnedneprovsk school №2 of the Dorogobuzh region, was the winner. Ekaterina Bukharova (School №35 in Smolensk) and Maxim Kravchenko (School №33 in Smolensk) took the second place. The third prize went to Tatiana Efremenkova (the municipal high school in Yartsevo), Darya Gusarova (Cyril and Mefodi Pedagogical Lyceum-Boarding School), Angelina Doroshenkova (School №33 in Smolensk).
