The scientific-practical conference "Information and Communication Technology in the Regional Development"

The IX Annual interregional scientific-practical conference "Information and Communication Technology in the Regional Development", which is organized by Smolensk region Administration, represented by the Regional Information Technology Department, started its work in Smolensk.

More than 300 specialists of IT departments, including the management and employees responsible for the informatization in the regions of the Central Federal District, representatives of the relevant companies, and educational and cultural organizations participated in the conference.

More than 60 talks and presentations are going to be delivered in the course of this large-scale forum. The participants will discuss the essential issues of providing state and municipal services in the electronic form, as well as providing information security based on the best regional practices.

On behalf of the Head of the region Alexey Ostrovskiy, the Vice-Governor Nikolai Kuznetsov greeted the participants. He noted that nowadays information technology has become one of the major factors affecting the development of the economic and social spheres, science, education, culture, and our lives in general.

It should be noted that just before the conference the OGBOU "Center of education for children with special educational needs in Smolensk" hosted the XXII regional competition "Information Technology in Education". The competition was held in the two categories: "The best information environment of educational and preschool educational institutions Smolensk region" and "The best individual creative projects" in the two directions: "Computer graphics and design", "Multimedia applications". 47 creative projects prepared by the students of schools, colleges and technical schools of Smolensk region were submitted to compete.

The results of the completion will be announced by the end of the conference on February 12 at 15:30 in the Great Hall on the 3rd Floor of the House of Soviets, Lenin sq., 1. The winners of the competition will receive diplomas and gifts from the conference sponsors for their significant achievements in introducing computer and telecommunication technology in the educational process, as well as for the creative projects.
