The meeting with the representatives of the Association of pharmaceutical manufacturers of Portugal «Apifarma»

The Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy held a meeting with the representatives of the Association of pharmaceuticals manufacturers of Portugal «Apifarma», during which the prospects of cooperation in the healthcare sector were discussed.

In particular, they talked about supplying Portuguese medicines and related products to the Smolensk region, as well as organizing a pharmaceutical production in the region.

The Association of pharmaceuticals manufacturers of Portugal «Apifarma» comprises 11 companies engaged in manufacturing, research and development, and promotion of drugs for medical and veterinary use, as well as in raw material production.

The governor pointed out that he is interested in cooperation with potential investors in the interests of the resident of Smolensk and the Smolensk region. In recent years, the regional legislation has undergone significant changes, and now there are all necessary conditions and great preferences for investments in the region. Various tools - from tax incentives to providing land plots on favorable terms - have been actively used.

The construction of a pharmaceutical production plant will give the inflow of investments into the region's economy, new jobs, and tax revenues.

The parties agreed to start cooperating with drawing the Minutes of joint action, in which all stages of the implementation of the reached agreements, as well as the responsibilities and interests of the parties will be specified. The Head of the region entrusted his deputies and heads of departments to carry out the work with Portuguese investors according to the "road map" of the project.
