World Health Day was celebrated in the Smolensk region

World Health Day is celebrated every year on April 7, in order to attract attention of people around the world to major public healthcare problems which the international community is facing. Our region has joined in the international campaign, within the framework of which there were some events held to mark World Health Day.

In 2016, the problem of diabetes, a disease spreading rapidly among the population, has become the central issue. Only in our region there are more than 33 thousand people suffering from it.

As part of World Health Day, held under the slogan "Defeat Diabetes!", the population of the region was informed about the problem of the disease and methods of its prevention through the events held at the Smolensk State Medical University, the College of Telecommunications, the Hall of Culture "Sharm", shopping and entertainment center "Maxi", as well as in health centers and policlinics.

The residents of the region could attend the lectures and workshops, which provided training in the regulation of mental status, receive consultations of leading experts of the Smolensk healthcare.

In addition, everyone could pass the sugar and cholesterol blood test and to determine the body weight index, in order to detect the diseases or their risk factors, as well as to consult a medical specialist and receive the informational materials on the prevention of the diseases.
