The "Day of the recruit" event in Smolensk region

The military railway troops unit in Krasniy Bor hosted the National youth patriotic event "Day of the recruit," which was attended by about 300 young people from all the districts of the region. The Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy greeted the participants and guests.

The main purpose of the event is to show future recruits the basics of military service from a demonstration of living conditions to examining equipment and weapons.

In his welcoming speech, the Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy said that in all times serving the Homeland has been an honorable duty of the men, the sacred duty of the citizen and patriot.

Currently, in Smolensk region there is an effective system of training young people for military service. The region has 35 active military and patriotic associations and clubs, which are attended by more than 10 thousand of future recruits.

For your information: the spring military conscription was launched on April 1 and it will last until July 15. The term of military service is 12 months. The rate of this spring conscription is 1250 people, including 250 specialists trained in the educational institutions of DOSAAF (Voluntary Association for Assistance to Army, Air Force and Navy) of Russia.

The residents of Smolensk region will serve in all branches and services of the Armed Forces: Land Military Forces, Air and Space Forces, Air Forces, Navy, Special-purpose Forces, Internal Affairs Ministry troops, and 10 young men have been selected for military service in the Presidential Regiment.

All the recruits will be provided with personal electronic cards, which are used in a variety of automated systems for military purpose, both during the service term and after the transfer to the reserve. This will ensure the control not only in the army, but also during the military training. The electronic cards contain all the biometric data of the soldier, information on military training, clothing and equipment, nutrition and health.
