greement between the Administration of Smolensk region and the Moscow Government on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation

The Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy and the Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin signed the Agreement between the Administration of Smolensk region and the Moscow Government on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation.

This happened mainly due to facilitation of the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Neverov, who suggested the initiative to promote cooperation between the two regions and actively participated in the negotiation.

Signing of the Agreement is a landmark event for the region. Common economic, cultural and spiritual traditions have for centuries connected Smolensk region with the Russian capital. The Document signed by Alexey Ostrovskiy and Sergei Sobyanin in the presence of Sergei Neverov is a reliable basis for mutually beneficial cooperation between Smolensk region and Moscow.

According to the Agreement, our region will be allocated 10 units of much-needed cleaning machinery and several hundred millions of rubles to repair and maintain public roads, serving as transport links between the two regions, which are used by the Moscow residents to go to their summer houses, and recreation and tourist sites in Smolensk region.

Thus, the implementation of measures to bring the roads up to the standard will not only ensure sustainable transport links between the Smolensk and Moscow regions, but will also improve road safety, stimulate the tourist potential of Smolensk region and the capital of Russia on the domestic market.

Furthermore, creating conditions for delivering products of industrial purposes, consumer goods, agricultural and food products are also taken into consideration.

Through mutual effort, Moscow and Smolensk regions are going to stimulate business activity, facilitate the exchange of business proposals and finding relevant business partners for the diversification of the industrial production. One of the important directions of work is creating conditions for the establishment and expansion of business connections between small and medium-sized businesses.
