Smolensk region is among the top 20 regions in terms of competition promotion

The Autonomous nonprofit organization "Analytical Center at the Government of the Russian Federation" produced a rating of the heads of the regions regarding the level of competition for 2015 on the basis of the analysis of the information submitted by the subjects of the country. It presents an independent quality assessment of the system worked out by the governors and their teams to promote the development of competition and of the level of work done in this area.

The Autonomous nonprofit organization "Analytical Center at the Government of the Russian Federation" produced a rating of the heads of the regions regarding the level of competition for 2015 on the basis of the analysis of the information submitted by the subjects of the country. It presents an independent quality assessment of the system worked out by the governors and their teams to promote the development of competition and of the level of work done in this area.

According to the rating, Smolensk region is the 20th among all the 85 subjects of the Federation and is among the Top 20 regions along with such regions of the Central Federal District as the Kaluga, Belgorod, Moscow, Tula, and Voronezh regions.

At the same time, Smolensk region is ahead of 4 of the 6 pilot regions implementing the Standard of competition development, including the Ulyanovsk and Volgograd regions, the Republic of Tatarstan, the city of St. Petersburg, as well as such subjects of the Federation as the city of Moscow, the Perm and Krasnodar Territories, the Leningrad region and many other regions of Russia.

The results of this year’s performance will be taken into account when assessing the effectiveness of the top officials of the Russian Federation subjects to create favorable business environment.

The fundamental goals of the Standard of competition development are: to realize market development potential at the regional and municipal levels as well as points of economic growth, to improve the quality of consumer choice, to create the conditions for healthy and fair competition, to reduce administrative barriers and pressure from the dominant market players, to stimulate innovations and reduce public sector in the economy.

During the first year all the basic components of the Standard of competition development were implemented in the region.
