Smolensk hosted the Regional Pedagogical forum
On the eve of the new academic year the Cultural and Recreational center "Gubernsky" hosted a traditional regional August pedagogical conference, in which the Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy took part.
The main Pedagogical Forum of Smolensk region is a landmark for summing up the results of the previous school year and setting priorities for the new one. The participants discussed essential issues of the education system development.
The Governor spoke on the regional policy in the sphere of education. For the first time in many years in Smolensk region 11 kindergartens were being constructed at the same time. Due to it, 100% availability of pre-school education for children aged 3 to 7 years was provided by January 1, 2016.
Over the past three years, more than a million copies of textbooks and teaching aids were purchased. 538 modern classrooms were equipped and are used in the teaching process in the educational institutions of the region. 36,000 units of modern sports equipment were purchased.
In order to preserve and improve the health of schoolchildren modern medical stations were equipped, more than 5.5 million units of school furniture and 5 million units of computer equipment were purchased for 144 general-education institutions.
Conditions for inclusive education of children with disabilities were created in 80 secondary educational institutions. Since 2013, each year the schools of Smolensk region have been included in the top 500 schools in Russia. For the first time in many years on the territory of Smolensk region the construction of the school for 33 classes is about to be completed in Velizh. In 2017, the project of the construction of an extension for school №33 of Smolensk will begin.
Taking into account the proposals of the employers in 2012, 9 new majors in the field of nuclear energy, electronic equipment production, mechanical engineering, metrology have been opened. 8 industrial resource centers (IRC) for the training of specialists and workers, as well as 4 training centers of professional qualifications in the following areas: engineering, construction, agriculture, energy, have been opened on the basis of the professional educational organizations.
During the Pedagogical Forum the prospects for development of the regional education system were discussed. In the period up to 2020 the work on creating additional places in preschool educational institutions for children up to 3 years old will be continued. It is planned to eliminate the two-shift system at schools. There is already a positive trend in the progressive solution of this problem. Since 2017 there will be more applicants for the regional professional educational institutions for the most popular and promising majors.
