IX Russian Film Festival of actors-directors "Golden Phoenix" will be held in Smolensk

The film festival "Golden Phoenix" has become a traditional and favorite cultural event for the Smolensk residents. This year it will be held in Smolensk region for the ninth time.

The building of the regional Administration hosted a meeting on preparation and holding IX All-Russian film festival of actors-directors "Golden Phoenix" within the framework of the Year of Russian cinema. It was attended by the president of the festival, People's Artist of Russia Vsevolod Shilovsky, the producer general of the festival, executive director of the Russian Film Directors Guild Igor Stepanov, representatives of regional and municipal authorities.

The program of the festival was introduced to the participants of the meeting and the representatives of the regional mass media by the director of the Film Directors Guild Igor Stepanov. "Golden Phoenix" will be held in Smolensk from 2 to 6 September. The Festival sites will be the "Sovremennik" and "Smena" cinema theaters.

The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on September 2 at 19:00 at the "Sovremennik" cinema. The contest program will open with the premiere of the feature film "House for rent with all the inconveniences", which will be presented by the film director Vera Storozheva. The host of the Festival opening ceremony will be People's Artist of Russia Anna Schatilova.

A special series of short feature films for youth will be shown in "Lopatinsky sad". The shows will start at 21:00. Traditionaly, the Film Festival, once again will go beyond Smolensk. In the towns of the region there will be meetings with the People’s artists of Russia Vsevolod Shilovsky, Alla Surikova, the Honored Artist of Russia Lyudmila Bodrova, the Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Adabashyan, the poet Vladimir Vishnevsky.
