The opening of the IX All-Russian Festival of actors-directors "Golden Phoenix"

The cinema theatre "Sovremennik" hosted the opening ceremony of the IX All-Russian film festival of actors-directors "Golden Phoenix", dedicated to the Year of the Russian cinema. From 2 to 6 September the Smolensk residents can enjoy watching Russian movies, as well as meeting and talking with their favorite actors.

The competition program of the ninth "Golden Phoenix" includes 25 feature films: 16 feature films and 9 short films. The films can be seen in the "Sovremennik" and "Change" cinema theatres; also, special shows of short films for young people will be held at 21.00 in "Lopatinsky Sad".

Traditionally, in addition to film shows, the Smolensk people can enjoy meetings with such People’s artists as Vsevolod Shilovsky, Anna Shatilova, Honored Artist Lyudmila Bodrova, Lyudmila Gladunko, Boris Tokarev, the poet Vladimir Vishnevsky. For the second consecutive year, the opportunity to talk to celebrities is available not only for the residents of the regional center but also for the people of Yartsevo, Dorogobuzh, Roslavl and Desnogorsk.

The special event of the festival will be opening the stars in honor of the People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Solomin and People's Artist of Russia Alexander Mitta.

This year, leading the opening ceremony was the People's Artist of Russia Anna Schatiloff.

The admission to all competition screenings and meetings with artists is free.
