The Administration of Smolensk region and the China Federation of Mechanical Engineering signed a cooperation agreement

In the Administration of the region Alexey Ostrovskiy chaired a working meeting with a delegation of the All-China Federation of Chinese Mechanical Engineering (CMIF), during which a cooperation agreement was signed. The document was signed by the Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy and the President of the Chinese machine-building complex Van Zhuysyan. The parties also discussed prospects of cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres.

The purpose of the Agreement is to establish and develop a long-term, effective and mutually beneficial cooperation between the regional Administration and the Federation of Chinese Mechanical Engineering in the field of preparation and realization of joint Russian-Chinese projects, including creation of joint ventures on the territory of Smolensk region. The priority area of ​​cooperation between the parties is the sphere of mechanical engineering.

Alexey Ostrovskiy paid special attention to the fact that a high-speed international transport highway Shanghai - Hamburg, which will connect China and Western Europe, will go through Smolensk region. Now it is already called the New Silk Road. This issue is on the personal control of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. For the efficiency of cooperation, the Working Group was created at the federal level, which is comprised of the heads of 9 regions, through which the high-speed highway will go.  The Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy is among them.

The construction of the Kazakhstan-Belarus section of the highway will begin in Smolensk region in 2018. At present, the preparatory work for the construction is being done, the right-of-way is being formed.

During the meeting the parties identified the specific areas for future cooperation.
