Moscow City Day in Smolensk region

In Lenin Square of the regional center there was a festive event dedicated to the celebration of the Day of Moscow in Smolensk region, which artistic groups from Smolensk and Moscow took part in.

According to the organizers, this event is not only a symbol of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two regions, but also a good impetus for their active collaboration in the economic, political, cultural and educational spheres.

It should be reminded that on May 18 this year, the Governor Alexei Ostrovsky and the Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin at the initiative of the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Neverov signed the Agreement between the Administration of Smolensk region and the Moscow Government on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation.

According to the agreement, our region is allocated 10 cleaning vehicles and three hundred million rubles to repair and maintain public roads which serve as transport links between the two regions. In addition, the Agreement covers the issue of creating conditions for supplying products for industrial purposes, consumer goods, agricultural products and foodstuffs. Together, Smolensk and Moscow plan to stimulate business activity, assist in the exchange of business proposals and finding relevant business partners for the diversification of industrial production. Also, the Agreement provides for the development of cultural connections between Moscow and Smolensk region.

On this day the Smolensk residents could enjoy the performance of the orchestra of the Marshal of the Soviet Union A.M. Vasilevsky Military Academy of Army Air Defence of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Smolensk folk bond "Kudesy", the singers Julia Nachalova and Bianca, the vocal band "PYATERO", the finalists of the "Voice" project Evgeniy Kungurov and Anastasia Spiridonova, the trio "GRAND", and the band "Pizza."

The hosts of the festival were the actor of the Russian Army Theatre, People's Artist of Russia Artem Kaminsky and the participant of the "Voice" TV project and "Just the Same" Elena Maximova.

The gala show ended with a disco and fireworks.
