Alexey Ostrovskiy took part in the plenary session of the International Investment Forum in Sochi

Within the framework of the XV International Investment Forum "Sochi-2016", which is attended by members of the Russian Government, the regional heads and businessmen, there was a plenary session chaired by the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. The main issues discussed were the tools of economic growth for the country and the regions, the reform of public administration, as well as improvement of the investment climate.

The Forum in Sochi is one of the three major discussion platforms in Russia along with the similar events in St. Petersburg and Vladivostok. Every year it brings together about ten thousand participants from 30 countries. The Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy attended the main investment platform of ​​the country.

The Prime Minister drew attention to the reform of public administration. According to Dmitry Medvedev, the low efficiency of the public administration system is one of the key factors that hinders the country's development. The work of the state apparatus is to be raised to a qualitatively new level.

The Prime Minister spoke in detail about the priority directions of the work of the ministers’ office and the regions, affecting all spheres of the social and economic life, in the coming years.

A serious topic on the agenda of the plenary meeting was the issue of single-industry cities. Dmitry Medvedev drew attention to the fact that a tenth of the population of the country, which is nearly 15 million people, lives in the single-industry settlements. The Prime Minister of Russia also spoke about specific tasks.

The discussed topic is of special importance for Smolensk region because in May this year the Government of Russia included Dorogobuzh in the list of the first category single-industry settlements. Moreover, it was the only town included in the list, despite the fact that there were a large number of applicants from other regions of Russia.
