Celebrating the Iverskaya Icon of the Mother of God

Within the framework of his working visit to Vyazma District, the Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy participated in the celebration dedicated to the 251st anniversary of the bringing the revered image of the Iverskaya Icon of the Mother of God to the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Vyazma.

October 26 is one of the days when the Orthodox world celebrates the Iverskaya Icon of the Mother of God. This icon is particularly important for the residents of Vyazma and for the whole Vyazma Deanery, as for many years it has been the patroness of the town.

After the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the Head of the region addressed the congregation and congratulated them on the remarkable event. Alexey Ostrovskiy stressed the importance of the cooperation of the secular and civil authorities, saying that the Administration of Smolensk region provides all possible assistance to the Archdiocese in implementing the projects to support motherhood, childhood, parenthood, and family.
