"Recruit Day" in Smolensk region

More than 300 participants gathered for the military-patriotic action "Recruit Day", organized by the Administration of Smolensk region together with the military commissariat of the region. It was held on the territory of the Marshal of the Soviet Union A.M. Vasilevsky Military Academy of the Army Air Defense of the RF Armed Forces.

Among the main objectives of the action there is development of high moral and psychological qualities in adolescents and young adults, loyalty to the Homeland, and readiness to defend it. Apart from the recruits, the event was attended by the military garrison of Smolensk, the recruits’ parents, representatives of the clergy and civil authorities.

Congratulating the participants of the action on behalf of the Governor of Smolensk region, the Deputy Head of the region Oksana Loboda stressed that people of Smolensk have always been very conscientious about military service and duty.

Then, the action participants got acquainted with the conditions in which conscripted soldiers live and serve today and watched the demonstration by the Special Forces and the specialized fire-rescue unit of GD EMERCOM of Russia in Smolensk region (General Directorate of Emergency Control Ministry of the Russian Federation in Smolensk region).

The first group of recruits departed on October 21.
