The results of the XVI All-Russian professional skills contest "The Best Doctor of the Year" were announced. The awards were presented to the winners by the Russian Federation Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova. It is no wonder that Smolensk region representatives are among the best contestants.

In the category "The best local therapist», the II prize was awarded to Olga Anatolievna Korotkaya from the Regional State Budgetary Healthcare Institution "Polyclinic № 6” of Smolensk. In the category "The best pediatrician", the III prize was awarded to Galina Evgenievna Ignatieva from the Regional State Budgetary Healthcare Institution "Monastyrschina central district hospital".

658 doctors from 48 regions of the Russian Federation, which is 81 applications more than in 2015, applied to compete in 34 nominations. The contest was held in three stages. The first stage was held right at the medical institutions of the country, and the decision about the winners was made by the staff. The next stage was held with the participation of the contest commissions of the federal structures of the executive authorities and agencies responsible for health care in the subjects of the Russian Federation. The results of the third stage of the competition were summed up by the Central contest commission.

Due to the special attention of the regional Administration and the Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy to the planned modernization of the healthcare system of Smolensk region, a new high-tech multi-functional system that can provide the residents of our region with ​​medical care of the highest level has been created.

Alexey Ostrovskiy made a decision on additional monthly payments to anesthetists-emergency physicians in the amount of 10 thousand rubles and to nurses-anesthetists in the amount 5 thousand rubles.

Also, the success of the region in implementing the "Zemsky doctor" program was highly assessed. In recent years, 50 young doctors, each of whom received a onetime payment in the amount of 1 million rubles, have come to work in the rural areas.

In 2015, Smolensk region was among the top 14 regions of Russia, according to the results of the monitoring of the primary health care effectiveness, which was conducted by the relevant federal Ministry.
