The Tvardovsky Regional Universal Library hosted a literary and musical event "Poet of human happiness", dedicated to the 117th anniversary of the famous poet, our countryman Mikhail Isakovsky.

In the framework of the event, there was a ceremony of awarding the annual Mikhail Isakovsky literary prize of the Smolensk region Administration, which is a high regional award and is given to poets, prose writers, and journalists. The candidates for the prize are nominated by creative unions and organizations. The decision to award the prize is taken by the organizing public council.

This year, the prize was awarded to Evgeniy Chernyak (his pseudonym is Evgeniy Samoedov), a journalist and radio presenter, actively engaged in the popularization of the literary works of Smolensk poets and writers. In his programs, Evgeniy Chernyak has repeatedly turned to the works and life way of Mikhail Isakovsky, and made a series of programs devoted to the famous countryman.

Mikhail Vasilievich Isakovsky came from the grassroots. Born into a poor family of a Yelnya peasant, Michael Isakovsky was taught to read and write by the local priest, and at the age of 14 he already published his first poem in the newspaper "Nov", 7 years later his three books were published in Smolensk. The works by Isakovsky are closely related to the military theme - many of its front-line works were set to music and became wonderful songs known and performed all over the world. The most famous ones are "Katyusha", "In the front-line forest”, "Dim light", "Enemies have burnt the home hut".
