The first ecological forum "Ecology of Smolensk" was launched in the region

The first ecological forum "Ecology of Smolensk Region" was launched at the “Smena" sports and fitness complex to draw the public attention to the issues of environmental development and ensuring environmental security in the region.

The event was attended by the representatives of the executive authorities of the regions of the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation, ecological agencies and enterprises, public organizations and movements, environmental scientists from Russia and the Republic of Belarus.

For two days, the participants of the Forum discussed topical issues of protection and rational use of water bodies, regulation of waste management of industrial production, and considered the main aspects of improving the system of subsoil use in Smolensk region.

Within the framework of the Forum, the opening ceremony of a specially protected natural territory - "Krasny Bor", a monument of nature of regional significance, was held. It should be reminded that it comprises an area of ​​500 hectares of the forest-park zone, Klyuchevoye, Dubrovenskoe, and Krivoye Lakes, as well as part of the Gnezdovsky archaeological complex. Locating facilities that have a negative impact on the environment, illegal construction and deforestation are prohibited here.

An information board was installed at the entrance to the protected area, the main function of which is to notify visitors about the necessity to observe the conditions of staying on the territory of the natural monument. Such information boards will appear in the near future along the entire perimeter of the natural facility.

It should be reminded that Smolensk region was the first region of the Russian Federation in which a decision was made to create a forest-park green belt around the regional center.
