Smolensk region celebrated the Day of Russia

On June 12, more than 20 thousand Smolensk residents took part in the festive events dedicated to one of the most important public holidays - the Day of Russia.

This year, an exciting festive program was prepared for the residents of the region. In the regional center, one of the main venues was the Vladimir Embankment: on the banks of the Dnieper, within the framework of the youth festival "I Love Russia", there were several interactive zones where master classes on juggling, playing drums, and dancing were held. There was also a painting session for the students of the children's art school. Smolensk residents especially enjoyed exhibition of military equipment from the Smolensk garrison units, the Marshal Vasilevsky Military Academy of Air forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the regional fire and rescue center, as well as specialized vehicles from the Main Directorate of the Ministry for Emergencies of Russia in Smolensk region. The brass band of the Military Academy and the street art theater “Sub Rosa” gave their performances prepared especially for the Day of Russia. At the end of the celebration, there was a mass performance of the Russian anthem and launching of the balloons.

Lopatinsky Garden was the center of sporting and recreation events, where dozens of athletes competed in raising the bar and performing exercises on the crossbar, weight-lifting and arm-wrestling. In addition to the power contests, everyone could watch the historical reconstruction and try to play the role of a graffiti artist.

The Day of Russia was brightly and widely celebrated in the municipalities of the region. Patriotic actions, festive concerts, folk and art festivals united residents of the towns and districts of Smolensk region through the love for their country and their homeland.
