The VII International Tourist Festival "Solovyova crossing" was held in Smolensk region

From July 21 to July 23, in the village of Solovyevo, Kardymovo district, the International Tourist Festival "Solovyova crossing" was held for the seventh time.

It should be reminded that the Solovyova crossing went down in history as a place of bloody battles and became a symbol of valor, selflessness and courage of Russian and Soviet soldiers fighting the Napoleonic and fascist armies in 1812, 1941 and 1943.

The program of the Festival, traditionally held with the support of the Administration of the region, was full of sports competitions and artistic performances. One of the most memorable events was the military-historical reconstruction, which recreated the battle of 1941 near the Solovyevo village. It is the place where, at the beginning of the war, there was the only crossing across the Dnieper available, which allowed the units of the 16th and 20th armies to leave the enemy's entourage and the civilians to escape from the fascist occupation.

The abundance of pyrotechnic effects and working samples of the Soviet and German military equipment and weapons of those times allowed to recreate the battlefield picture, bringing it to the real one as close as possible.

In memory of those who were killed during the Great Patriotic War, the action "Candle of Memory" was held - wreaths and little rafts with lighted candles were brought down to the waters of the Dnieper. In conclusion, there was a premiere of the documentary film by Yuri Shalimov about the Solovyova crossing "Remember to live".
