Smolensk region is ready for the new academic year

721 educational organizations of the regional and municipal level will function in the new 2017/2018 school year on the territory of the region. So far, all of them have been examined by a special acceptance commission and have received a permission to operate.

Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy pays close attention to the development of all the levels of the educational system, since the future of the young Smolensk residents and our region in general depends on the competent organization of the educational process and creation of comfortable conditions for studies.

In accordance with the May decrees of the President, the shortage of places in kindergartens for children of the age 3 to 7 in our region has been eliminated. In the new academic year, there will be 253 pre-school educational organizations working, 2 of which will have been put into operation by September 1. These are kindergartens in Smolensk and Vyazma for 150 people each. In addition, before the end of 2017, a pre-school institution for 240 places in Roslavl will open. A total of 39 thousand kids will attend the kindergartens of the region.

On September 1, 375 schools will open their doors in the region, in which almost 90,000 people will study, about 10,000 of which are first-graders. About 89 million rubles have been allocated from the budgets of all levels for the preparation of general education institutions for the new academic year. Using these funds, the schools have renovated and updated their material and technical base.

The regional Administration pays much attention to the development of the vocational education system. On the instructions of the Head of the region, a dual model of training specialists is being introduced - students master the theory in the educational institutions, and then put it into practice at the Smolensk companies. This model allows young people to receive not only the most complete vocational training, but also an opportunity of further employment. In the 2017/2018 academic year, 20 professional training organizations will be operating, and the number of students in them will be about 15 thousand people.

In addition, about 34 thousand young Smolensk residents will attend 64 organizations of additional education, which will also start operating on September 1.

So far, 95% of the works have been completed, the interior design is about to be finished, the adjacent territory is being fixed up. By the way, this is the first and only temple in the region where a barrier-free environment has been created.

During examining the church, Father Vasily specially drew the Governor's attention to the installation of the porcelain iconostasis. It should be pointed out that during the excavations near the Peter and Paul Church in Yartsevo, dating back to the pre-revolutionary period, burial of broken porcelain, which turned out to be fragments of the iconostasis, was found. On the initiative of the Governor, the specialists produced a new iconostasis for the temple in a similar color scheme using those samples. By the way, the porcelain iconostasis is a rarity for modern churches. Such designs can be found in the temple of the Holy Virgin Mother of God the Savior at the Odigitrievsky Convent on Bogoroditsskoe field in Vyazma district and in Zadonsk Nativity of the Mother of God Monastery in Lipetsk region.
