On July 23, the second international motor rally of friendship "Berlin-Moscow" started in the German capital. It will last for three weeks and cover 45 cities on seven routes. During the rally, its participants will cover more than 40 thousand kilometers in total - they will visit the cities of Russia, Belarus, Poland, and Germany. On August 10, they will arrive in Smolensk.

More than 300 travelers from 16 countries are taking part in the rally. Most of them are from Germany. The youngest participant is only 6 months old, and the oldest one is 78. Foreign visitors are driving cars, motor homes, motorcycles, and buses.

The goal of the rally is to establish cultural and friendship ties between Russia and Germany, to express the sincere desire for cooperation and mutual understanding. The organizers want to show that simple human friendship and positive attitude towards people are stronger than all political differences.

"Anti-Russian sanctions in Western countries, including Germany, are accompanied by massive information propaganda, where Russia is presented as a danger factor. The motor rally is a way to disagree with such propaganda, leaving the right to draw conclusions about the country and the Russian people independently, judging from personal communication with them”, says Professor Rainer Rotfuss, the initiator and inspirer of the project.

In Smolensk, the participants of the rally will arrive at the monument to Fedor Kon; then they will lay flowers to the Eternal Fire, hold a press conference, and meet with representatives of local public organizations. They will also take a tour of the city and enjoy a concert in the regional philharmonic society.

Smolensk residents will have an opportunity to communicate with foreign travelers, and can volunteer to be translators (you need the knowledge of English or German). You can contact the coordinators of the action in Smolensk by e-mail: patriot@admin-smolensk.ru.
