Russian artists will come to Smolensk for a plein air session

The Directorate of the Ministry of Culture in the Central Federal District, together with the Moscow Union of Artists and the Union of Artists of Russia is holding a series of plein air sessions "Cultural Heritage as a Source of Inspiration" in historic cities and country estates in the regions of the central part of the country.

This project is aimed at popularizing the unique architectural heritage, as well as expanding interregional links in the field of professional fine arts and strengthening cooperation between creative unions.

According to the organizers, participation in the plein air sessions will allow artists to visit the ancient cities and observe the traditional source of inspiration - architecture and old buildings.

Representatives of the creative community will be visiting our region from the 14th to 18th of September. The theme of their plein air session in Smolensk region is going to be “Fortress". Artists will put on their canvases the beauty of the fortress wall, as well as the picturesque places of the historical and architectural complex "Teremok" in Flenovo.

The opening ceremony of the open-air session will take place on September 16 at 17.30 in the Art Gallery.
