The Smolensk Film Forum, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this autumn, has been held since 2008. It should be reminded that "Golden Phoenix" has no analogues in the world, because all the films brought to Smolensk are made by filmmakers of different professions - actors, operators, scriptwriters, who tried their hand as directors.

The jubilee creative Forum was held from the 3rd to 7th of September. During this time, Smolensk audience could see 26 new films, 22 of which (12 full-length and 10 short ones) competed for the prizes of the Film Festival - large and small "Phoenixes". The contest program included both creative debuts and films by already famous actors-directors, which had received awards, for example, the much spoken about "Loveless" by Andrei Zvyagintsev. It was this film that received the grand prix of the Film Festival - the "The Diamond Phoenix" statuette. Janis Politov, a director, received the prize for Andrei Zvyagintsev.

The jury consisted of people's artists of Russia Emmanuil Vitorgan, Alexander Pashutin, Larisa Luzhina, Valentina Talyzina and Honored Artist of Russia Lyudmila Bodrova.

The prize for the best debut, Yuri Gagarin "Ruby Phoenix", was given to Lera Surkova, the director of the film "Pagans".

The Audience Award, Lyudmila Kasatkina "Sapphire Phoenix", was given to the directors Vladimir Zaikin and Eduard Radzyukevich for the film "Graphomafia".

The Anatoly Papanov special prize was awarded to Yevgeny Tatarov, the director of the film "Nobody’s". The short film "Mantis" directed by Elena Polyakova won in the "Good Traditions".

The main venue of the film forum was traditionally the Sovremennik cinema. Also, the shows were organized in the "Smena" cinema and in the Central Recreation Park "Lopatinsky Sad".  Simultaneously with the film screenings, there were meetings with the guests of the Festival. This year, the Smolensk residents could enjoy meetings with Emmanuil Vitorgan and Valery Garkalin.
