Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy took part in the opening ceremony of a new kindergarten in Smolensk

During his working trip round Smolensk, Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy took part in the opening ceremony of Kindergarten No. 50 “Nezabudka” in Zadneprovsky district and examined the conditions created for the children.

The construction of the pre-school institution on Ostrovsky Street began in 2014 as part of the federal project to modernize regional systems of pre-school education and the long-term regional targeted program "Development of pre-school education in Smolensk region" for 2011-2015. The cost of the facility exceeded 90 million rubles, of which about 53 million rubles are from the regional budget. In addition, on the task of the Head of the region, more than 3.6 million rubles were allocated to purchase soft equipment, curtains and blinds, dishes, medical equipment, and medicines.
In his welcoming address, Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy said: "I am always happy to open new kindergartens - for the last few years we have built more than ten of them, which has not happened since the collapse of the Soviet Union. We decided to postpone the official opening of the kindergarten, waiting for the groups to fill up, and the children together with their parents to be able to appreciate the new facility”.

Today, in Smolensk region, the task of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to guarantee 100% availability of education for children aged 3 to 7 has been completed. Currently, the Administration of the region is systematically working to decrease the waiting list for places in nursery groups for kids from one and a half to three years old through the construction of new kindergartens and opening additional groups on the basis of already operating ones.
At the end of the ceremony, the symbolic key for the building was handed to its head.

The preschool facility was put into operation on September 1. So far, 90 children have been going to nursery and senior groups. By October 1, all 8 groups, of which six will be nurseries, will have opened for 150 Smolensk youngsters. At the same time, this year the city authorities intend to create another 60 places at the expense of the internal reserve funds.
