A joint meeting of the Collegiums of the Sport Ministry of the Russian Federation and the Sport and Tourism Ministry of the Republic of Belarus was held in Smolensk

The event was attended by members of the Collegiums, heads of executive agencies operating in the field of physical culture and sports in the subjects of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, in which the main sports events of the Union State take place, and the heads of scientific institutions of the Sport Ministries of the two countries.

The meeting participants discussed the issues of strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of sports and physical culture within the framework of the Union State. Also, among the issues raised, there was improvement of legislation in the field of physical culture and sports, and the development of sports education and science.

Vice-Governor Vasily Anokhin, on behalf of the Head of the region Alexey Ostrovskiy, welcomed all the participants of the meeting and pointed out that Smolensk region is increasingly becoming a platform for holding significant Russian-Belarusian events affecting various aspects of the life of the Union State.

It was noted that the region continues to actively improve the sports infrastructure: along with modern multifunctional fitness centers there are school stadiums and gyms, courtyard sports grounds built. So far, more than 3 thousand of Smolensk residents have received the insignias of the All-Russia Physical Culture and Sports Complex "Ready for Labor and Defense", in fact, more than half of them were gold ones.

The joint meeting of the Collegiums ended with the signing of the final documents and working out an action plan for the near future.
