Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy took part in the ceremony dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Commissions on Minors’ Affairs and Protection of their Rights

The Tenishevs Cultural and Exhibition Center hosted a festive event "1918-2018 - 100 years of childhood protection", dedicated to the centenary since setting up the Commissions on Minors’ Affairs and Protection of their Rights. Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy congratulated the specialists of the agency on their professional holiday.

The event was attended by representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of the region, law enforcement agencies, institutions for the prevention of neglect and juvenile delinquency, social educators, specialists of the Assistance Centers for children and families.

It should be reminded that the history of the Commission on Minors’ Affairs and Protection of their Rights began on January 14, 1918 - on that day the "Decree on the Commissions for the Minors" was adopted. It was aimed at eliminating unemployment, decreasing juvenile delinquency, as well as at social adaptation of the younger generation. Naturally, during a century of its existence, the Commission faced different tasks in different years, but the main priorities of their activities have remained unchanged: protecting children from cruelty, violence and negative influences of the social environment.

Addressing the audience, Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy said: "The work of each specialist of the Commission involves daily contact with people’s lives, children's problems, a huge responsibility for the future of the child. The main qualities that distinguish you are indifference to children, patience, kindness, the ability to create an atmosphere of trust, personal commitment to help solve the problems of a specific family. It is your work that has helped to prevent a huge number of minors from taking the wrong path. That's why you are respected and trusted by both teenagers and their parents when they need help at a difficult time."
