Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy awarded the winners and laureates of the city contest "The Educator of the Year - 2018"

The Tenishevs Cultural and Exhibition Center hosted an award ceremony for the winners and laureates of the city contest of professional skills "The Educator of the Year - 2018". Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy welcomed the best professionals of preschool education in the regional center.

The city contest of professional skills "The Educator of the Year" has been held in Smolensk for 24 years and is aimed at professional and personal development of preschool education professionals, sharing their best practices, and forming positive public awareness of the profession.

Greeting the winners and laureates of the city contest, Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy said, "I think that all the participants of the contest are already winners, because they have shown courage, talent, determination to achieve new goals and desire for self-development. In fact, all of those who have chosen this profession deserve awards. Because it is precious to become for a child a second mother, with whom he or she spends much more time than with his or her real mother".

11 educators, who had to go through three stage of the contest, were competing for the right to be named the best one. At the first distance stage, the jury assessed personal websites of the pre-school educators and their essays on the topic "I am an educator". Then, in the real time format, the teachers told about their innovative experience and held the event with the children. The final test was a "pedagogical briefing" and a master class where adults were in the position of children.

According to the points scored, Viktoria Kopylova, the representative of Kindergarten No. 4, who also received the People's Choice Award, became the Educator of the Year - 2018.
