Smolensk will host VI International Theater Festival “Smolensk Ark

From 10 to 17 April, the regional center will host the VI International Theater Festival "Smolensk Ark", organized with the support of the Administration of the region.

Moreover, theater company from the Republic of Kazakhstan - "South Kazakhstan Regional Russian Drama Theater" will take part in the festival for the first time and will open the program of the festival on April 10 at 19.00 with Dale Wasserman's "Flight Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (American story in two acts based on a novel by Ken Kizi).

In total, the program includes 20 performances based on the works by Nikolai Leskov, Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekhov, Mikhail Bulgakov, Eduardo de Filippo, William Shakespeare, Ray Bradbury, and other authors. The A.S. Griboyedov Smolensk State Drama Theater, the D.N. Svetilnikov Regional Puppet Theater, and the Chamber Theater will serve as the Festival sites.

The jury will be comprised of prominent writers, playwrights, directors, theater critics, and journalists. Among them, there is Boris Blank, the President of the Guild of Artists of the Cinematography Union of Russia, the winner of the Russian Film Academy "Nika" award and the "Teatral" award, Leonid Agulyansky, a member of the Writers' Union of Russia and Israel, a member The Guild of Playwrights of America, and others.
