The Smolensk Regional Union of Consumer Societies celebrates its 100th anniversary

In Smolensk, there was a ceremony dedicated to the International Day of Cooperatives, which is celebrated on July 7, and the 100th anniversary of the Smolensk Regional Union of Consumer Societies. Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy greeted the centenarians.  

Today, Smolensk co-operators, in close contact with the representatives of the business community, implement significant and promising projects and achieve tangible results. It is no coincidence that the performance of the organization for 2017 let it rank the second in the Russian Federation and in the Central Federal District.

At the ceremony, Viktor Akimov, Chairman of the Board of the Smolensk Regional Union of Consumer Societies, spoke about the results and prospects for developing consumer cooperation. He noted: "The main task that the manufacturers involved in consumer cooperation are facing today is the expansion of sales markets, as well as the further promotion of products of our enterprises to the foreign market".

As a reminder: in May, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy together with Dmitry Zubov, the Chairman of the Board of the Tsentrosoyuz of the Russian Federation, and Viktor Akimov, the Chairman of the Smolensk Regional Union of Consumer Societies, signed a tripartite agreement. It is aimed at developing and using the potential of Smolensk region consumer co-operation to improve the standard of living and the welfare of the rural population, meeting their needs for goods and services, improving the system of harvesting and processing agricultural products.

"The signed Agreement, without any doubt, is a guarantee for a new qualitative stage in developing the relationships between the Administration of the region and the Smolensk Regional Union of Consumer Societies. I suggest you, Viktor Grigorievich (Akimov), together with my deputies, work out a detailed "road map" within the framework of the Agreement in order to fill it with real activities and projects aimed at improving the quality of life of Smolensk region residents," the Governor pointed out.

Then, Alexey Ostrovskiy presented the best professionals of consumer cooperation with Letters of Appreciation from the Governor and Honor Certificates from the Administration of Smolensk region.

There was a festive concert at the end of the ceremony.
