Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy commented on the results of the Smolensk region delegation participating in the Russian investment forum "Sochi-2019"

At the present time, Sochi is hosting the XVIII Russian Investment Forum - the key economic platform of the country, providing an opportunity for the interaction of federal and regional authorities with representatives of the business community, heads of leading companies operating in various sectors of the economy and social sphere. The Smolensk region delegation, headed by Alexey Ostrovsky, the Head of the region, is taking part in its work.

At the Forum, the Governor held talks with potential business partners and signed a number of important documents. Among them there are Cooperation Agreements for more than 2.3 billion rubles, which involve significant investment projects in tourism, sports, industry and other sectors of the economy and social policy of Smolensk region. Some of the projects are creating the first in the region special economic zone of the industrial and production type “Stabna”, opening the “Leroy Merlin” shopping center in Smolensk, constructing a sports indoor kart-track in Krasninsky district, etc. It is important that in the framework of implementing the signed agreements there will be about 600 new jobs created.

Commenting on the results of the Smolensk region delegation participating in the Sochi-2019 Forum, Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy said: “The Sochi Forum is traditionally a significant platform for establishing new business contacts, holding business meetings, negotiating with potential investors, signing cooperation agreements on the basis of large-scale preparatory work.

I would like to emphasize that not a single agreement, which was signed at the Forum, was left without practical implementation. A number of projects are already being implemented today; many of them will be implemented in the coming months and years. And it means hundreds of jobs created for Smolensk region residents, multibillion investments in Smolensk region economy, new tax revenues to the regional budget and, as a result, additional funds for more efficient fulfillment of social obligations in accordance with the instructions of the President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.

Therefore, the Administration of the region, and I as its head, pay so much attention to this most important event in the business life of Russia and actively participate in it.”
