A working meeting of Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy and Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova

During his working trip to Moscow, Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy met with Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, supervising the social sphere, and discussed the issues of building medical institutions in the region.

In particular, it was the issue of constructing a new medical facility at the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital and constructing an oncological clinic. Tatyana Golikova confirmed the agreements reached earlier on providing financial assistance from the federal budget.

Also, one of the key topics of the agenda was the need to build a new medical and diagnostic building at the Regional Psychiatric Hospital in the village of Gedeonovka, Smolensk region, which is one of the oldest and largest medical institutions of this kind in the country. It is worth noting that its buildings were built in 1902-1905, however, during this time there has never been a major reconstruction. Currently, the premises do not meet modern sanitary requirements and standards, and therefore there is a need to build a new hospital building for 290 beds.

“During the working meeting with Tatyana Alekseevna Golikova, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, we again returned to the issue of constructing a new building for the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital and a new oncology clinic in Smolensk. Tatyana Alekseevna confirmed her position, the position of the federal departments and the Government in general on the need to support the initiative of the Regional Administration for the construction of these facilities and the instructions that had previously been given to the relevant Ministries to allocate funds,” said Alexey Ostrovskiy.

In fact, there was a decision to provide funds from the federal budget for the construction of the new oncology clinic in the period from 2021 to 2023, for the construction of the new building of the Regional Children's Hospital in the period from 2020 to 2022.

“I also thought it necessary, among other things, to ask Tatyana Alekseevna to support the construction of a new building of Smolensk Regional Psychiatric Hospital in the village of Gedeonovka, since the facility that is currently being used to provide medical services is not in the proper condition for living in, ” the Governor said. “ In this respect, I am grateful to Tatyana Alekseevna that she supported the initiative of the Regional Administration and also instructed the relevant Ministries and Departments to provide the funds for the construction of a new building for the Regional Psychiatric Hospital in the budgets of 2021, 2022 and 2023.”

Currently, a set of measures is being taken to choose land plots, the funds have been allocated from the regional budget for the design and financial estimate documentation to start building a new building for the Regional Children's Hospital next year, and to start building a new oncology center in 2021.

Also, upon his returning from the Government House, the Governor gave instructions to allocate funds for the design and financial estimate documentation for the new building of the Regional Psychiatric Hospital, as well as to allocate a land plot for these needs.

“So in the coming years the region will have three large-scale social construction projects, which are really necessary for the residents of Smolensk region,” assured the Head of the region.
