Smolensk region has become one of the three leading regions in the sown area of long-flax.

According to the data of the relevant department, this year 18 long-flax crops were sown by 18 farms in Smolensk region (5% of the total in the region), including organizations that have their own primary processing of flax (flax plants).

By the way, this year sown area of ​​long-flax amounted to 4.8 thousand hectares, which is 17% more than last year, and over the past 8 years this figure has more than doubled.

It is also worth noting that from 2011 to 2018, flax fiber production increased by 2.5 times (from 1.1 to 2.8 thousand tons), flax fiber productivity doubled and in 2018 amounted to 7.9 centners per hectare.
