An International conference «Smolensk-Minsk-Belostok: possibilities of interregional cooperation» is being held in Smolensk

The third International conference with its representatives from Russia, Belarus and Poland is being held in our country for the first time. Smolensk was got out as the place for such meeting.

Words of welcome were said by Nikolay Kutsko, a head of department of Embassy of Republic of Belarus in Smolensk, Vladimir Arkhipenkov, a president of Smolensk chamber of commerce and industry, Leonid Soloviev, a director of Smolensk branch of the Academy of Law and Management (Institute).

Mark Entin, a director of European training institute under Moscow State University of Foreign Affaires of the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of Russia delivered the report about ways of the project development «Smolensk-Minsk-Belostok», Tomash Dubovski, an associate professor of the European law of the faculty of law of the University in Belostok has also delivered his report.

Sergey Kudryavtsev, a head of the department of international relations of the Administration of Smolensk region has told about the role of our city in Russian, Byelorussian and Polish relations in his opening speech. He has also greeted guests of the city on behalf of the Governor Sergey Antufiev.

«It is very important for our region to consolidate an interregional cooperation with regions of   Republic of Belarus and provinces of Republic of Poland. Direct ties between us can give an economic effect. To our mind our cooperation has good promises within new historical conditions. Such optimism is based on deep cultural and universal ties between our states which have never been broken off regardless the political conjuncture. I think, that issues and problems which will be discussed during our conference will help us to become closer to each other and develop our countries», - has declared Sergey Kudryavtsev.

Discussions on international cooperation and its perspectives are planned to be continue on the second day of the conference.
